Meet Our Newest Author - Mandy Urena!
Holly and I met Mandy at the Southern California Writers' Conference. Her magnetic, energetic personality is hard to forget, so when she submitted her work months later, we immediately knew who she was. I remember hoping she'd publish with us. There is nothing more fun than working with an author who is talented, passionate, and excited.
Mandy's novel, TOUCHY, FEELY, SQUEEZY: Musings of a Masseuse, will be released through Acorn in February of 2018.
Many Urena went to a posh all-girls private school in England. She has a Masters in Human Relations and speaks 4 languages: English, French, Japanese and Spanish. She’s been a massage therapist for twenty years, an Air Force wife for twenty-three, and is obsessed with her Bernese Mountain Dog Cheyenne.
Mandy has had ants in her pants since she was a teenager and as such has been to 59 countries so far and counting. Her writings are set in foreign countries where she lived, and her stories are full of culture intertwined with her life as a masseuse.
“Touchy, Feely, Squeezy: Musings of a Masseuse” is her first book and it is a humorous look at her life as a massage therapist with stories from Japan, Germany, Thailand, Spain, Egypt and Bratislava – she has literally been around the world on a massage table! Stories include hysterical chapters such as “The Penis Monologues” and “Hookers, Madams and not so Happy Endings”, but the hilarity is contrasted with chapters such as “Loved and Lost” and “Daddy’s Feet” – all with the backdrop of massage, reflexology, and a colorful clientele. Mandy loves everything about massage, exploring different cultures, and laughing. She’s also partial to a Gin and Tonic…or three.
